Rob LaPier started teaching skiing on the icy slopes the East Coast at Whiteface Mountain in Upstate, New York. Throughout college he competed regularly in Slopestyle, Halfpipe and Skier-X in Summit County Colorado. Upon finishing his Bachelors degree in Communications he co-founded a summer ski camp on the Beartooth Pass, based out of Red Lodge, Montana.
After one winter of living in Jackson he was recruited to coach for the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club’s Freeride Program. During his first years with the Club he brought home numerous Nationals podium finishes including five gold medals. His efforts during those years also integrated a summer mountain bike component to the program in summer 2007.
Outside of work, Rob competed on the Subaru Freeski Tour and landed on the podium at the Jackson Hole national stop in 2007. Rob worked with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort as the Head Coach of the Anomaly Freeride team from 2009- 2014 working closely with Daniel Tisi during his TGR debut. While at JHMR, Rob co-founded both the IFSA Targhee Jr National and IFSA Jackson Hole Jr Regional freeride competitions.
In the fall of 2014 Rob returned to JHSC to take a lead role in the Freeride program. Rob is also the current IFSA Regional delegate. He brings to the Freeride Program valuable industry connections with numerous brands namely, Outdoor Research, Rocky Mountain Underground, and Smith Optics. Since moving to Jackson in 2004 Rob has been featured in seven ski films and has played the role of Associate Producer in KGB Productions' Wyoming Triumph.
